When I ordered my Smashbox Cherry Smoke Palette (it's in my October favourites!) I selected the Liquid Halo foundation as a sample, since trying new foundations is one of my favourite makeup related things to do. In case you need proof, here's my last "Testing Samples" post, all about foundations! ;)
This foundation claims to contain 100% Liquid Light Technology that completely evens out the skin for a totally natural and luminous finish.
Let's talk about this straight away: the luminous finish is definitely there. It looks luminous in a natural, non glittery way, and looks really nice!
I can't say the same about the ability of completely even out the skin, as I could still see some redness on my cheeks: I'd say it's got light to medium coverage - which to be fair it's what they say too! -, but I've used lighter bases with more coverage.
It's meant to be long wearing and moisturizing at the same time, and I can agree: it's been comfortable all day when worn without powder on my normal dry-combination skin.
From what I can see the shade selection is pretty good: I used shade #4 which is a lovely light to medium warm base, and the other ones look beautiful too.
As I mentioned I've been wearing it without powder as most of my bases lately, and I find the best way to do it is to slightly blot the skin a couple of minutes after application with a tissue. It removes the excess product and lasts all day looking more natural, so I've been doing it a lot lately!
I think this is a really lovely foundation for someone after an everyday base that doesn't require lots of coverage or a mat finish: it's not something I would personally purchase as I have bases I love more (the Dior Diorskin Star for example! Isn't it clear that I'm still loving it a lot?), but I can't say a bad thing about it! Definitely grab a sample if you can. :)
Have you tried this foundation? Do you have any Smashbox recommendations for me?
Based on what you've said, this foundation isn't for me. :-) I have been testing out the Smashbox Eye Primer (based on Silke's recommendation) and it's really nice. I think I like my UD anti-aging primer a little better (as my eyelids are on the drier side), but the Smashbox is not bad at all. :-)

Hey Gyudy, haha you must have been happy with this. I know you love to try new foundations :) I haven't tried ANYTHING from Smashbox, mostly because it's not available here, but partly because I don't think I've seen anything that I feel like going through the trouble to lay my hands on. For the moment I have a bit too many foundations, so I think I'll pass!
ReplyDeleteThis foundation sounds nice. I like light to medium coverage so will definitely grab a sample and give it a go. #6 looks perfect for my skin tone. :) xx

I love this sample as you get various shades to mix and match for your perfect skin tone. I also prefer more coverage with my foundations so don't think I will even try this out. I have never tried blotting my skin with tissue after application instead of using powder. Need to try it out and see how I get on :D x

Gyudy! You are such a temptress - that Dior Star Foundation is on my list now more than ever. After you've raved about it esp! I've always loved Dior's foundations actually. :)
ReplyDeleteI adore this foundation and use it on many of my clients abd brides! I do find colour correction is necessary before application to even out the skin tone perfectly. The coverage is buildable and never heavy. It is defo one of my faves!
ReplyDeleteI've not tried this but the samples look like a great size for trying! xx

Hello Gyudy,
ReplyDeleteThose samples look great, but I'm really loving the YSL Fusion Ink Foundation. Based on your wonderful recommendation, I took the plunge and purchased the Diorskin Concealer and it is AMAZING!! Not a concealer person, but this stuff just blends into the skin beautifully :) Mille Grazie Bella.

I'm currently testing all kind of foundation which gives sheer foundation
ReplyDeleteI may try this too :)
