I was so ready to dismiss Makeup Revolution as a hyped up cheap brand, I really was. But those blush palettes I was seeing everywhere were calling my name and I was too curious about them, so after a long hesitation I decided to order the Ultra Blush Palette in Sugar and Spice: here’s my review!
This palette contains beautiful hues of pink, from the peachier to the brighter and deeper ones, alongside a highlighter and a really shimmery pink blush. The texture of this powders is amazing, as they’re really soft and blend easily on the skin, and the pigmentation is crazy. You literally need the tiniest amount of product on the bristles of the brush: a little dab is more than enough for one cheek, and if you’ve been too careful they’re going to build up beautifully. The two shimmery shades on the far right require even a lighter hand though, and honestly I don’t use them as much, but if you like your shimmer you’re going to love them.
My favourite shade is the first one of the bottom row, which is the darker and more pigmented of them all. It’s such a nice deep plummy rose shade, and lightly applied gives a gorgeous flush to the cheeks. The second shade of the top row is a good sculpting blush that gives a really natural and subtle look, and the third from the same row and second from the bottom one are great brightening pinks. I’ve found the really shimmery pink on the far right is best if layered/mixed with another shade to add some shimmer and luminosity to the look, otherwise the shimmer can really be a bit too much.
I’m so, so impressed. I was so hesitant to try these (I was expecting some mediocre products only good if compared to their price, but not worth it), and whilst I still have a couple of doubts (how is it possible that these products are so crazy cheap? What’s in there, and where/how are they made?), I really can’t say a bad things about them performance wise. I truly like this palette! And being a high end girl at heart, I don’t say it lightly.
Have you tried anything from Makeup Revolution? What’s been your experience so far?

Ah I haven't tried this palette but it looks so nice! I'll have to look into buying it :) I love makeup revolution, their eyeshadows are so good - I would definitely recommend them, especially for the price :) Only downside is the packaging not being the best but hey, you're buying it for the product at the end of the day!

Makeup Revolution can have their miss products but the blushes & eyeshadow palettes I have tried from them are top notch especially considering they are so cheap. I love this palette and reading this has reminded me to use it more x

i haven't tried this one, and we don't get this brand in canada so its unlikely i ever will, but have tried other budget brand 10 pan blush palettes. they work out quite well in general which people don't often expect. i think we're prone to dismissing less expensive things as generally 'lower quality' when they sometimes aren't. glad you ended up loving this! esp since its 'crazy cheap' that's always a major bonus.
ReplyDeleteI like MR blushes and eyeshadows, I think they're really great, especially considering how cheap they are! They're cheap because they don't spend lots of money on packaging and advertising and they still sell like hot buns because they're good quality :) x

These remind me of the BH Cosmetics blush palettes, which are also super affordable. I suspect, that as other comments have noted, that the lower price has something to do with packaging and not spending as much on PR. Though it hay have something to do with what kind of ingredients are used as well..not to suggest that these cheaper products have bad ingredients, but more likely that luxury brands through in some of the fancier stuff - which may or may not always be necessary. :-) xo

Love the colors one for each mood!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic palette! Every girl's dream!
ReplyDeleteHow pretty!
ReplyDeleteI am swooning over the shimmery pink (far right in the second row). :)
Hey Gyudy, I've heard great things about the brand! Thanks for pointing out the quality is simply excellent, not great considering the price. The shimmery shades do look very shimmery, but I think I'll get along with the less shimmery ones!
ReplyDeleteOh, I’m so
ReplyDeletein love with your blog! So beautiful photos and interesting posts!

I keep hearing awesome things about the brand! This one truly did not disappoint! My favorite is the last shade on the bottom row. I love me lots of pale shimmery pink! The highlighter shade (top right) is just as gorgeous, though. Yeah, I wonder how these were made as well considering how affordable the price is!
ReplyDeleteI've mainly gone for their lipsticks so far which I loved, especially Rebel with cause! The blush shades really pop, I especially like the 4 on the right hand side :)
ReplyDeleteVelvet Blush
I've got this one too, I love it! x

Thank you for this review, Gyudy. I'm curious about their blushes because you do get a good selection for the price. For the most part, Makeup Revolution's products appear to be hit or miss, even for those eyeshadows in the same palette. Personally, I'm a fan of their Iconic 3 and Romantic Smoked palettes - not overwhelmingly pigmented, but it's not bad quality for the amount I paid for it. :)
